A proud native of Baltimore, Maryland, Kalada earned his B.A. in Political Science and International Languages and Cultures in 2009 from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Driven by his insatiable curiosity to see the world, he spent a year abroad on a Fulbright scholarship teaching English to high school students in Central Java, Indonesia.
Upon his return to the states, he made his first foray into food and wine. Under the mentorship of Tony Foreman and chef Cindy Wolf, Kalada had the opportunity to work through multiple dining concepts and positions under the Foreman-Wolf restaurant group including general manager of their flagship property, Charleston.
An avid fan from afar, Kalada never missed an opportunity to visit the Elephant Bar and Library whenever visiting New York. In April of 2016, upon moving to the city, the NoMad was the first place he applied. He was thrilled to learn the ropes as a kitchen server and work his way up through the restaurant.
In the spring of 2018 he was promoted to dining room manager and ultimately general manager in September of 2019.
