The Paris-based design studio be-poles developed NoMad's art program based on the idea of the “voyage” at large, inspired both by NoMad’s Parisian-influenced style and by be-poles’s collection of photographic books, the Portraits de Villes, in which a selected photographer has carte blanche to give his or her own vision of a city. The art is an invitation to a personal and intimate journey through 19th century correspondence, vintage travel collectibles from the 20th century, and the contemporary vision of artists via original photography and sketches. To achieve this, vintage artworks have been sourced in antique shops throughout France. Personal contributions have also been made by both the photographers and artists of the Portraits de Villes collection as well as by Antoine Ricardou, art director of be-poles, all of whom have drawn on their personal production of “carnets de voyage” over the past 20 years. As a result, each guest room’s art is unique, while at the same time communicating a consistent story of a beautiful journey through time and space.
